SUMMARY:ASL for Beginners - Fall 2020 (9/14/20 to 11/9/20)
DESCRIPTION:Get started on your journey in American Sign Language with our 8-week beginners workshop beginning on September 14 and ending November 9. \nClass Description: \nEmphasis will be on learning the alphabet\, numbers\, and basic sign vocabulary. Proper ASL sentence structure and grammar will be introduced. Prior sign language experience is not required. \nClass Activities and Schedule: \nAll classes will be held online Monday evenings 5:30 to 7 pm via Zoom (free for users to download). To ensure a smooth online experience\, we are limiting enrollment to 10 people. \nRegistration and Payments:  \nAll classes are open to the public and encourage family participation. Children 8-13 of age must be accompanied by an adult. \nAbout the Instructor: \nNina Endler has been teaching ASL in the Boulder Valley School District for eleven years. She recently earned a Masters in Teaching ASL from the University of Northern Colorado. Nina loves the interactiveness of ASL classes along with their community feeling.

DESCRIPTION:Learn to cue in a 5 week course with a certified instructor of Cued Speech through Cue College’s online curriculum! \nInformation from Cue College:  \nCS200 – Introduction to Cued American English\, a 5 week instructor-led online course\,  provides an overview of the Cued Speech system and includes all the handshapes and hand placements associated with each phoneme\, or speech sound\, of spoken English. \nCS200 includes the CS100 online curriculum which takes you through the foundations and mechanics of Cued Speech\, with examples of different words and phrases cued at each placement with each hand shape. CS200 also includes three weeks worth of drills and weekly supports in building fluency in Cued American English. \nEach week will include \n\nWeekly Class Sessions (1 hour) on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8 pm EST\nWeekly Lab Sessions (1 hour) on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8 pm EST\nQuiz Checkpoints in Week 2 and Week 4\nWeekly Video Assignments\n\nCS200 also includes instructor interaction\, quiz checkpoints and a course evaluation (a requirement for those seeking RID CEUs and a certificate of completion) \nThe contents of this course will be available from September 7\, 2020 to September 7\, 2021.  Upon purchase of the course\, you will receive an email confirmation of your registration with instructions for signing onto our Canvas Learning Managament System.  Your course will appear in your Canvas dashboard on September 7.
