Sandra Abbott Gabbard, Ph.D. | CEO/President | Clinical Audiologist
Sandra Abbott Gabbard, PhD is the President/CEO of the Marion Downs Center and has over 30 years of experience as an audiologist, administrator and professor. She continues to practice audiology as well as teach and mentor audiology students. Dr. Gabbard has a PhD in Audiology and has extensive clinical experience diagnosing hearing challenges in children and adults and supporting their technology needs. She has published and presented extensively in the areas of infant hearing assessment, pediatric amplification and communication access. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and adjunct faculty in the Speech, Language, Hearing Science Department at the University of Colorado. Working closely with individuals and their families provides Dr. Gabbard with continual inspiration.
Maeline Barnstable, MA, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist | Director, KidScreen
Maeline Barnstable is the Director of Screening and Speech-Language Outreach at the Marion Downs Center. She received her BS in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois, where she was on the Dean’s List, and her MA in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston. She has almost 20 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist and administrator. Maeline is a nationally certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She is also a member of the Colorado Speech Language Hearing Association, volunteering as the ASHA Continuing Education administrator from 2008-2012. She was accepted into ASHA’s Leadership Development Program for Emerging Leaders in 2014. Maeline sits on several Health Advisory Committees for various Early Head Start and Head Start programs in metro Denver. She has worked with adults with speech-language and swallowing disorders, as well as neurological impairments. She has also worked with preschool and elementary students with developmental delays as well as speech and language problems. Maeline has provided in-service training for healthcare staff, preschool staff and the general public regarding communication development and flags for referral. She likes directing the screening program to identify educationally significant obstacles to learning such as hearing, vision or speech-language problems. She wants all children to have maximum success in school and believes screening is the first step towards that goal.
Jordan Belanger, AuD.
Clinical Audiologist
Jordan Belanger is our newest clinical audiologist and a former Audiology Fellow at the MDC. She received her Doctorate of Audiology from the University at Buffalo. She grew up in Moscow, ME and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Maine. Jordan is passionate about all aspects of audiology and helping individuals communicate and interact with those around them. Outside of audiology, Jordan enjoys spending time with her horse and family.
Maggie BrownAudiology Fellow
Maggie Brown is our 4th Year Audiology Fellow and Colorado LEND trainee. She is completing the final year of her Doctorate of Audiology at the University of Connecticut. Maggie received her bachelor's of science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in American Sign Language at the University of Vermont. She has taken part of the Connecticut LEND from 2022-2023 as a trainee and from 2023-2024 as a teaching assistant. Outside of the clinic, Maggie love to read, spend time outdoors, and play with her cat, Choy!
Stephen DulanyOccupational Hearing Conservationist
Our new hearing conservation technician, Stephen hails from Glendale Heights, Illinois and moved to Aurora three years ago. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Health Education. Stephen is passionate about health in every aspect of our lives. In his free time, Stephen live to hike, climb, camp and spend time outdoors. He also enjoys taking landscape photography while hiking.
Cindy GladdenClinic Manager
Cindy Gladden is the KidScreen coordinator for the KidScreen Program and Billing Specialist for the Audiology Clinic and has been with the company since 2005. She was trained as a medical assistant and served as a medical specialist in the military. She served 4 years in military hospitals and field units. After the military, she was a childcare professional serving infants and preschoolers. Prior to joining KidScreen, she spent seven years as a volunteer vision screener in a local school district.
Caleb Kronen, AuD Clinical Audiologist | Director, Hearing Conservation
Dr. Caleb Kronen is the Director of the Hearing Conservation Program and a clinical audiologist who specializes in hearing healthcare for musicians and audio engineers. He oversees the hearing health of over 300 industrial companies. Dr. Kronen worked for six years in the Hearing Research Laboratory at the University of Colorado conducting research on music-induced hearing loss, signal processing of music in hearing aids, and psychoacoustics. As a member on the executive council of the National Hearing Conservation Association, he has worked to provide educational material for audiologists and technicians in the field of occupational hearing conservation. Having been a touring musician and professional audio engineer himself, Dr. Kronen is passionate about providing outstanding care for people in the music industry and patients with noise-induced hearing loss.
Ben Livingston, AuD Clinical Audiologist
Dr. Ben Livingston graduated with a Doctorate of Audiology from Northwestern University in 2024. Dr. Livingston grew up in Oswego, Illinois and attended the University of Iowa where he received a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing Science. He's passionate about helping individuals with hearing loss reach their communication goals.
Dr. Livingston completed his externship with us at the Marion Downs Center where he supported the hearing conservation program and Kidscreen in addition to clinical duties. He's also worked with many musicians, fitting hearing aids, custom musician earplugs, and custom in-ear monitors. As a trumpet player, Dr. Livingston enjoy learning from Dr. Kronen and everyone at the Marion Downs Center about hearing healthcare for musicians and audio engineers. He enjoys music, sports, and spending time with friends and family.
Ginny Kitch Lupo, AuD Clinical Audiologist
Ginny Kitch Lupo, AuD, has been a Clinical Audiologist for over 20 years. She received her dual bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, her Masters of Science in Audiology from the University of Washington and her Doctor of Audiology from University of Florida. Dr. Lupo is Board Certified in Audiology. During her career, Dr. Lupo has specialized in addressing the hearing-related needs of people of all ages with the most significant hearing losses. She has worked with cochlear implants for over 20 years as the technology has become dramatically more accessible, flexible and effective. Dr. Lupo works to provide comprehensive, personalized care of the highest integrity and quality. Ginny grew up in Denver. She and her husband, Eric who is an otologist, are happy to be raising their three boys in Colorado.
Lynne Lyons Chief Operating Officer
Lynne Lyons is the Chief Operating Officer. Lynne has a Masters in Public Administration and has worked in the non-profit healthcare sector for over 25 years. Lynne has significant hearing loss, so the mission of the Marion Downs Center is both professional and personal for her. Lynne finds her job at the Center very rewarding because she sees firsthand the many ways that the Marion Downs Center improves the lives of those who live with hearing loss.
Ally Maurer Director of Development and Operations
Pam Miller Patient Care Coordinator
Pam serves as the Patient Care Coordinator and comes from over twenty years of customer service experience, including nine years in a family practice setting. She takes pride in her kind, patient nature with getting to know each person as an individual.
Pam has been married for almost thirty-four years, has three children and four grandchildren. Having lived in Colorado for the past forty-eight years, Pam’s favorite place to be is camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with her family. Pam also enjoys boating, bike riding and painting.
Julie Peterson, AuD Clinical Audiologist
Julie Peterson, AuD, is a Clinical Audiologist with over 30 years of experience in diverse practice settings. She continues to practice audiology and mentor students. Dr. Peterson earned her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2013 after practicing under her Master of Science in Audiology degree for many years. She has extensive clinical experience addressing the hearing needs of infants and children, as well as adults, and in training Doctor of Audiology students.
While practicing in Arizona, Dr. Peterson was active in programs providing free services and hearing aids for children from Sonora, Mexico. Dr. Peterson finds great satisfaction in improving people’s lives through education, technology and on-going supportive relationships.
Cortney Pfeaster Patient Care Coordinator
Cortney is a Master's of Public Health student studying Community and Behavioral Health at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Her background is in disability studies and program planning with an emphasis on health inequity. Cortney is hoping to learn more about health systems and clinical operations in her new role as Patient Care Coordinator. She will also be helping to coordinate the Marion's Way Preschool this summer. For fun Cortney likes to make jewelry, read, and crochet. She also grew up on a farm and loves anything to do with animals and the outdoors!
Aaron Rose, MSDE Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
Aaron Rose, M.S.D.E. is the marketing and outreach coordinator for Marion Downs Center with over a decade of experience in non-profits. Mr. Rose earned his Masters of Science in Deaf Education from Washington University School of Medicine in 2010 and spent three years in Aurora Public Schools before switching gears and diving into marketing and outreach for non-profit organizations. In addition to spending time with his family outdoors on the water and in the mountains, Aaron enjoys mountaineering and splitboarding.
Katelyn Strickland Clinic Administrative Coordinator
Katelyn comes to the Marion Downs Center with multiple certificates in Emergency Management through the FEMA and has a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. She spent eight years working with the elderly population in a variety of settings. Before joining the team, Katelyn worked with the general public supporting Crisis Mental Health.
Katelyn's passion is to help others improve their quality of life and enjoys working with older adults. In her free time, she enjoys live music, singing, reading, and watching hockey. Katelyn shares a husky and two cats with her husband, Ryan.
